OK, First of all, I AM BACK. My one week " vacation" is now over.
Secondly, I am thinking or signing up in the Marines Corps. After being on base for a awhile I love the idea of serving the country. I I am hoping to be a part of the Marine brotherhood and giving back to the people who fought for my freedom by fighting now for them. Being a protector of the United States. So anyway, I want to know what you guys think. Should I sign up to be a U.S. Marine?

Hmm I'm joining the Navy, and if you want the be f**k**g hardcore kick down doors and shoot at things... then the Marines is what you want. Even with your intelligence, if they need you (which they probably will) you'll be on the front lines. Army is almost the same, except, you're just wasting your talent there. I'd suggest the Air Force, but if you want to travel more than go Navy. National Guard is just a branch off of the Army, but the Marines are a branch off the Navy also.
Marines - Fighting
Army - Getting pushed around but taking credit for everything
Navy - Patrol the seas docking in exotic places, meeting with the locals. You can be stationed on land too.
Air Force - More technology based. That's really all I know about that.
My brother is in the Air Force, and my sister just got out of the Army, so I know what they have told me.

Viral: The Army doesn't take credit for everything the Marines do. >_> Both my parents and my grandfathers were in the Army. And I know 3 Marines and two Army guys. Oh and one Flyboy :3 ( I like how everyone thinks the Army takes credit when they actually do go in first. Ask vets from Fallujah. Hell even a Vet from the War in Iraq said the army went in first.) But I suggest pretty much anything but Coast Guard or National Guard.

1. I don't care what each branch does or who gets credit. I am thinking of going Marine, nothing else. Honor, Courage, Comentiment, Sempe Fidelis...
2. This is me asking people's opinion on my thought of becoming a Marine. Not to bash on the military or any of its branches. If that continues, I will lock and delete this thread and punish people accordingly, I don't care if you are staff either. Nor do I care if you even live in the U.S. Don't bash on any military of any country, it is disrespectful.
3. I will be the first on lines no matter what anyway. I am going to be 1st infantry, the front of the front lines. So try to put a little trust in me will you?

xD what I meant by the Army taking credit for everything is that when someone says military most people think Army. Like I said the Marines are just a branch off the Navy, except they are more of the fighting than the patrolling. Basic is hell with the Marines though. Navy basic in the Great Lakes just got redone. It's apparently all state of the art now.
People generally look down on the Marines because they are pretty much known as Grunts. Like every game you've ever played it's always the Marines running around shooting people. *coughhalocough* They don't have the best rep in the world. Kick butt uniform though.

Yeah they do have a pretty osim Uniform. Anyways, 1st Infantry is pretty hard to get into. You don't get to CHOOSE which division you get sent to. You could get sent to 10th Mountain or Others. 5th Force Recon... but anyways. Marines is cool but like Viral said, boot camp is basically hell on earth. Army is a little less than that (You don't get beat daily ) Than Coasties Than Pansy-Handsy Navy!

the air force puts more money in their soldiers than any other branch. they are worth almost as much as the planes they fly. But anyway, yeah I know I don't really get to choose what division I am put into. But I am going to get into 1st infantry anyway, because I will not settle for anyhing else. That means I will have to be tougher than the staff sargents that train me.... which I will be.

I know someone in the marines, he said it's hard but it's not worth it. He said going to iraq for like 20 grand was not worth and, he said he hopes he never does it again. And another guy I know who's dad has PPD, Post partum depression. HE said it's not worth it. because it ruins your life.

Well you should honestly do what you want to do. However, I can tell you that it is a lot of hype. The majority of my family and my friends have all been in branches of the military, and they agree with me when I say that the commercials and tours are specifically made to get you to join. The majority just show the best parts of it, just like a movie commercial. And I give to the people who serve my country by paying taxes!
